# Picking a Lineage --- When picking your Lineage, I recommend leaning towards the core "Standard" lineages. Below you can find those as well as some background on how they are commonly found on Méarn. ### Dragonborn (Sadhakah) Pretty uncommon, Dragonborn mostly live in the southern half of Méarn. Although they are generally nomadic, many Dragonborn have settled into their own communities across the continent. The Dragonborn are more diverse than most people think, many people fail to see the subtle pattern differences, horn shape, or teeth shape as markers of different social groups and cultural identities. Even the existence of Half-Dragonborn have widely been dismissed despite their growing numbers. Notably, the name Dragonborn is not the one Dragonborn use for themselves. Sadhakah is the true name of Dragonborn. ### Dwarf Dwarves, initially from the mountains, have become one of the most commonly found lineages across the continent. Historically, the mountain dwellings grew cramped and overpopulated. Causing many Dwarves to venture out across the continent. Now, Dwarves are found in all walks of life and all cultures, though small in number relative to the Humans. ### Elf Elves are one of the most populated Lineages on the continent. Historically from the northern half of the continent, they are now present in all places. Though, many of their original cities and cultures are still only located in the north. Despite having been on Méarn the longest, Elves' long lives make them prone to having viewer numbers than other lineages. ### Gnome Gnomish cultures so incredibly diverse that it's hard to say how they look in abstract. Gnome cultures celebrate perfection over expansion. Meaning they tend to stay put rather than travel far. Originally from the south eastern parts of the continent. Gnomes are rarely found in the north. ### Half-Elf Half-Elves are only second in population to humans across the continent. Wherever people are, there a half elves. ### Half-Orc Similar to Half-Elves, Half-Orcs are present all across Méarn. Sadly, depending on where you are, the Orc stereotypes are still present. That being said, Orcs have grown more and more common to see integrated into the cultures across the continent and thus Half-Orcs follow that same acceptance. ### Halfling Halfling cultures are small and stable. Often more inward looking than the other lineages. It's not uncommon for an entire village or town to be just one family of Halflings. In recent years though, more and more Halflings have been striking out looking for adventure. ### Human There is little to say about Humans. They are the most diverse, numerous, and widespread of all Lineages. There are always humans. ### Tiefling Tieflings did not always exist on Méarn. Originally Human, the people of the Airen peninsula were transformed when it's plains were razed by infernal claws. The few that survived, became the original Tieflings. Long since then, Tieflings have now become a few yet widespread people. as these are the Lineages that I have spent the most time placing in Méarn and building the world around. As such, there's more to pull from narratively for me and you. That being said, if you wish to pitch a different Lineage for your character, there are some rules to take into account. # Rules for other Lineages --- 1. No setting specific Lineages (i.e. Warforged from Eberron or Simic Hybrid from Ravnica) 2. As you move down from Standard -> Exotic -> Monstrous. There will be increasingly more need for planning and world building to figure out how they fit and what that means for you and your character. My primary goal here is to maintain the themes and tone of the setting and therefore may have very specific and obscure guidelines that need to be followed.
